About Emergency Dental Care
At Avon Dental Group, we understand the stress and concern that dental emergencies can cause. Our team of caring general dentists is here when you need us most. We offer 24-hour emergency dental care for our patients and strive to take care of any emergency needs the same day. Oral injuries and damage often result from accidents when playing sports, trip-and-falls, and direct trauma to the face or mouth. Whether you feel discomfort or not, it is still important to have your mouth evaluated after any injury to screen for any hidden damage. Our Avon, CT dental team places dental emergencies as a priority. If you or a loved one needs care from an emergency dentist, please contact our practice right away.
Type of Dental Emergencies
You may need emergency treatment if a crown, bridge, denture, or other restoration breaks or falls out, you are in pain, or you have a broken or knocked-out tooth (which requires immediate care). In some circumstances, you may be unsure of how quickly you need to seek treatment (such as with a loose tooth or restoration, trauma that does not cause pain or bleeding, or a chipped tooth). Any time you have an injury to your mouth, including your gums, teeth, or jawbone, it is important to get in touch with our office right away. Our empathetic team can help you decide how quickly to come in, offer strategies to reduce any pain, and inform you of how to store your tooth or dental restoration until you arrive. Even minor injuries can cause larger problems if not treated right away, so it is better to err on the side of caution and contact our office immediately.
Though we treat all types of dental emergencies, some of the most common situations we see include:
- Toothaches
- Knocked-out teeth
- Dislodged teeth or restorations
- Broken teeth or restorations
- Abscessed or infected teeth
- Oral lacerations
What To Expect during Care
Every dental emergency situation is different. To provide the highest level of care for your specific needs, we will carefully evaluate your mouth and work to get you out of discomfort as quickly as possible. Digital x-rays may be taken to screen for any unseen damage. Once we understand the extent of your condition, one of our dentists will speak with you about treatment options. Whenever possible, we strive to provide treatment during your emergency visit. However, you may require a follow-up appointment to further address your needs or complete your care. In some cases, our on-site dental lab may be utilized to fulfill lab-related emergencies within the same day, such as when a denture breaks or needs other repairs.
Avon Dental Group Reviews
My visit with the hygienist, John, was great! He provided some great information, was thorough and careful!
Love John the hygienist. He explains everything thoroughly and in a way you understand. Makes you feel comfortable.
Experts at dental care. I had horrible childhood dentist, very scarey. I've receive great gental care at Avon Dental for the last 24 years.
Amazing experience. They have a great group of hygienists and doctors at this place. Extremely please with Dr Geelan’s care and advise. Highly recommend this place.
TLDR: Dr. Solof is awesome. I’ve gotten a lot of fillings over the years (yes, shame on me)— whenever I had fillings done in the past with other dentists, it always took weeks to “get used to” my new bite— I thought this was just part of getting fillings. I came to Dr. Solof with a bunch of new cavities. He tackled them over 3 sessions and each time, my bite was not impacted in the slightest. Dr. Solof takes great care to make sure the fillings are shaped perfectly for the patient’s bite. Highly recommend.
