About Custom Dentures
Custom-made dentures may be a convenient treatment choice if you need to replace several or a whole arch of missing teeth. Made from modern materials that resemble natural teeth and gums, dentures can renew your appearance and make it easier to eat and speak with increased confidence. At Avon Dental Group, our general dentists work closely with our in-house dental lab experts to create either full or partial removable dentures for patients who have lost teeth or are facing tooth extractions. Full dentures replace all the teeth in your lower arch, upper arch, or both while partial dentures use remaining teeth as support. Our experienced team can help you determine whether full or partial dentures fit your needs and created custom appliances for a natural look and fit. Schedule an appointment at our Avon, CT practice today to receive more information about custom full and partial dentures.
Best Candidates for Dentures
You may be a good candidate for removable dentures if you have lost some or all of your teeth in the upper and/or lower arch. Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of teeth and replicate the look of gum tissues and teeth. Any remaining natural teeth may be used to support a partial denture, which will be made of metal or plastic framework and natural-looking tooth replacements to blend seamlessly for an attractive appearance. In some cases, we may recommend attaching dentures to dental implants placed within the jaw to enhance stability and long-term benefits. At your initial consultation with our Avon, CT team, our dentists will review your denture options and help you select the type of restoration best for your tooth replacement needs.
What Is the Treatment Process?
If necessary, we may need to extract severely damaged teeth to improve your oral health. In such cases, we may take impressions of your teeth before your extraction visit and make an immediate denture for you to wear while your gums heal after extractions. Conventional full dentures and partial dentures are customized according to the ideal fit and appearance for each patient within our on-site dental lab. Using our advanced iTero Element 2 scanning technology, we will take a digital impression of your arches and use these images to create your custom dentures. Once your custom dentures are finished, our dentists have you return for a fitting and adjust them to feel secure and comfortable in your mouth. Our in-house lab also offers fast and efficient denture repair for patients requiring these types of services.

Best dentist! 🦷 I’d travel far for Dr Geelands gentle and thorough exam.
Best dentist! I’d travel far for Dr Geelands gentle and thorough exam.
X-Ray tech was pleasant and professional. Dr. Fagan was gentle and her explanations of needs etc were very detailed and comprehensive. Dental Hygienist Jessica was fantastic. I’m so used to jumping out of the chair and white knuckles gripping the armrests at other dentists offices. None of that. Jessica was so gentle and thorough, at the same time. She cared for me and made my comfort her priority. Best dental experience ever!
First time visiting. I changed offices because I felt my previous one wanted to charge me for something I know I did not need done. I got a second opinion at Avon Dental Group. My hygienist Kaylee was amazing and attentive to detail. I will for sure be returning again.
Wonderful and pleasant. Refreshing!

Caring for Your Dentures
It may require some time before your new dentures feel natural; however, it should eventually become easier to eat and speak normally. If your dentures feel loose, please return to Avon Dental Group have them re-adjusted. Our team will review instructions on caring for your full or partial dentures at home, which will include brushing them at least twice daily. When you remove your dentures at night or for any other reason, they should be soaked to prevent your appliances from drying out. We recommend that you keep up with routine dental cleaning and exam visits at Avon Dental Care. Even if you have full dentures, it is important for our team to check the fit of your tooth replacements and evaluate the health of your underlying gums and jawbone.
Does Insurance Cover Dentures?
Depending on your plan, a portion of your denture procedure may be covered by dental insurance. Our office will contact your dental insurance company to determine your exact coverage and estimate any personal expenses. To help make replacing your teeth even more affordable, Avon Dental Group offers no-cost financing through CareCredit and accepts several convenient payment solutions.
